Cable Hollow Golf Course in Russell might not be Augusta National Golf Course but new owner Arthur Stewart is trying to make parts of the course feel like you are playing in the Masters.

Stewart said by renovating the course and bringing in some additions, “is our chance to bring Augusta National to Warren County.”

Stewart, who has been playing golf at Cable Hollow since he was six-years-old, said when he was asked by previous owners John Sr. and Marge Bortz to buy the club he did not have to think about it for a long time.

“In November they called me and said Arthur, would you be interested in buying our golf course, and I thought about it for five seconds and thought well, yeah I would,” he said.

The course itself is not the only thing that is being renovated.

“Up at the clubhouse, we did a new bar, we did some interior changes for paneling on the wall, and we have a contract in place to do a new pavilion so that we can host all the golfers after a tournament.

Another item Stewart wants to bring in is a new golf club simulator. He has one at his office and thinks putting one at Cable Hollow will bring in more customers.

“I think if we bring that here people will have a lot of fun with it,” he said.
