Erie County, NY (WNY News Now) – A former jail deputy found guilty of failing to report inappropriate conduct with a female inmate, and violating protocol by making unauthorized contact with a former inmate has been sentenced to 3 years’ probation.
Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn has announced that Robert M. Dee, 42, of Eden has been sentenced to 3 years’ probation by State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges.
Between March 19, 2019, and May 29, 2019, Dee solicited and received the phone number of a female inmate during her time at the Erie County Holding Center. After her release Dee made contact with her by phone, a breach of protocol that mandates reporting any interaction with former inmates.
On January 4, 2022, Erie County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a 911 call at Dee’s residence in the Town of Eden, where they discovered another female victim. Dee was under a protective order that prohibited contact with this victim after a previous incident.
Dee was terminated from his position with the Erie County Sheriff’s Office. He pled guilty to Official Misconduct and Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, both Class “A” misdemeanors on May 1, 2023.
