
JAMESTOWN, NY (WNY News Now) – The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education has chosen an educator with a strong local connection as the new principal of Washington Middle School.
The Jamestown Public Schools Board of Education has endorsed the selection of Ericka Alm as the forthcoming principal of Washington Middle School. A graduate of Jamestown High School in 2002, Alm currently holds the position of principal within the Warren County School District.
Dr. Kevin Whitaker, the Superintendent of JPS, expressed his contentment with the appointment, stating, “I am very happy to bring Ericka Alm on board to lead our work at Washington Middle School. She was ranked at the top of the list by our various stakeholder groups throughout the interview process. Her past success and professional drive will help her as she begins to build relationships with our staff, students, and parents. I look forward to many years of success.”
Alm has been a significant figure in the Warren County School District since 2015, serving in roles ranging from Assistant Principal to Principal at Eisenhower Middle/High School. During the past academic year, she undertook a districtwide position as the virtual learning and elementary curriculum coordinator. Before her tenure in Warren County, Alm spent seven years as a social studies teacher in the Frewsburg Central School District.
Alm’s educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in Adolescence Education and History from the State University of New York at Fredonia, and a Master’s Degree of Science in Special Education from Mercyhurst College. She has also earned New York State School Building Leader and School District Leader certifications from Gannon University.
