(WNY News Now) – The Jamestown Housing Authority and Goodwill of Western New York are teaming up for a Community Support Resource Fair, set to take place at the Hotel Jamestown’s Crystal Ballroom on August 29th from 12pm to 3pm.

Jamestown – The fair is sponsored by Goodwill’s Goodskills Career Builder, known for its Workforce Readiness training initiative launched in Jamestown this year. Focused on Advanced Manufacturing careers, the initiative offers four weeks of free training to Chautauqua County residents over 18 years old. The program addresses the shortage of skilled workers in the area, offering opportunities for career advancement from low-wage jobs.

While successful in job placement, Goodskills recognizes barriers like childcare, transportation, and housing. Bryan Boleratz, Community Outreach Liaison, states that the fair’s goal is to provide a comprehensive pathway to success.

Partnering with Goodskills, the Jamestown Housing Authority manages public housing and rental assistance programs. Joseph Gerace, Executive Director, emphasizes their shared commitment to supporting sustainable employment. Gerace anticipates the event as the beginning of a fruitful partnership that benefits the community at large.

The event, featuring over 25 government and community organizations, aims to assist individuals in finding, securing, and retaining higher-wage careers in the local economy.
