
(WNY News ) – The Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County (MHA) will host the North County MHA Art in Recovery Group Annual Show at its Dunkirk recovery center in Grace Lutheran Church on September 29, marking the end of National Recovery Month.
Dunkirk – In commemoration of National Recovery Month, the Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County (MHA) is set to present the inaugural North County MHA Art in Recovery Group Annual Show on Friday, September 29.
The exhibit, taking place from 6 to 8 p.m. at the MHA’s Dunkirk recovery center located in Grace Lutheran Church (601 Eagle Street, Dunkirk), will offer attendees an evening of “light refreshments, good fellowship, and lots of art,” as stated by MHA Executive Director Steven Cobb.
The Art in Recovery groups, facilitated by MHA Strong Starts Navigators Rose Crocker in Dunkirk and Carriee Clarke in Jamestown, provide individuals with the opportunity to express their personal recovery journeys through various forms of art, including painting and drawing.
National Recovery Month, celebrated throughout September, underscores the possibility of recovery for all individuals and honors those in long-term recovery.
The Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County is committed to promoting radical acceptance, empowerment, and advocacy for community members dealing with mental health and substance use issues. They offer peer support groups and individual coaching to assist individuals in their quest for wellness and recovery.
For individuals seeking assistance or information regarding mental health or substance use disorders for themselves or their family members, the Jamestown recovery center at Door 14 in the rear of the Gateway Center (31 Water Street) is open Monday to Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
The north county recovery center at Grace Lutheran Church in Dunkirk operates from 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, and from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.
