(WNY News Now) – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announced the arraignment of a 21-year-old from Rex, Georgia, on a felony charge of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony). The charges stem from an incident on Tuesday, October 17, 2023.

Buffalo, NY – It is alleged that on on Tuesday, October 17, 2023, at approximately 9:14 p.m., Guadarrama Silva made a wrong turn onto the Peace Bridge while driving. During a routine inspection of his vehicle, U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers discovered a loaded and illegal handgun concealed inside a backpack.

Guadarrama Silva’s legal proceedings are set to continue on Monday, October 23, 2023, at 9:30 a.m., with a felony hearing. Prosecutors have requested that he be remanded, although he was released on bail, which was set at $1,000 in cash or $10,000 in bond.

If found guilty of the charges, Guadarrama Silva could potentially face a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
