(WNY News Now) – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that 20-year-old Jakyia A. Williams of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges.

Buffalo, N.Y. – 20-year-old Jakyia A. Williams of Buffalo was sentenced this morning before State Supreme Court Justice Deborah A. Haendiges to time served and 5 years of probation.

On Monday, September 5, 2022, at approximately 8:03 p.m., Jakyia A. Williams intentionally stabbed the male victim in the upper torso with a knife. The crime occurred after Williams arranged to meet the victim outside of a fast food restaurant on Thruway Plaza in the Town of Cheektowaga. The victim, who was sitting the in the driver’s seat of a parked vehicle outside of the restaurant, drove himself to Sisters of Charity Hospital St. Joseph’s Campus after the attack. He was treated for the injury and released.

Williams pleaded guilty to one count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony) on June 15, 2023. Today, a final order of protection was issued for the victim, which remains in effect until 2031.

DA Flynn commends the Cheektowaga Police Department for their work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Meredith M. Mohun of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau.
