(WNY News Now) – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo, NY, has issued a Winter Weather Advisory effective until 10:00 PM EST today and a Winter Storm Watch from Saturday afternoon through Monday morning for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Southern Erie counties.

The Winter Weather Advisory predicts additional snow accumulations of 2 to 4 inches, while the Winter Storm Watch warns of heavy lake effect snow with total accumulations of 7 inches or more. The most persistent lake snows may experience significant blowing and drifting snow, with wind gusts reaching up to 65 mph.

Travel is expected to be challenging, with difficult to impossible conditions during the weekend. Widespread blowing snow may reduce visibility, and Saturday’s strongest winds could lead to tree damage and power outages. Motorists are advised to exercise caution, slow down, and stay updated on road conditions.

Residents can submit snow reports through the NWS Buffalo NY website or social media channels. Localized travel issues are anticipated due to narrow bands of heavy snow and blowing snow in specific areas.
