(WNY News Now) – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that a 44-year-old Buffalo man was arraigned yesterday before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek on an indictment charging him with one count of Murder in the Second Degree (Class “A-I” felony) and one count of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree (Class “C” violent felony).

Buffalo, NY – It is alleged that on Monday, September 5, 2022, at approximately 2:15 a.m., Martinko Jamel Caver intentionally shot the victim with an illegal gun on the 300 block of Glenwood Avenue in the City of Buffalo. The victim, 33-year-old George McGee, III, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he was pronounced deceased.

Caver was held without bail. A return court date has not been scheduled at this time.

If convicted of the highest charge, Caver faces a maximum sentence of 25 years to life in prison.

DA Flynn commends the Buffalo Police Department for their work in this investigation.

The case is being prosecuted by Chief Gary W. Hackbush of the Homicide Bureau and Assistant District Attorney Ryan M. Flaherty of the Felony Trials Bureau.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
