(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – The Park School of Buffalo, Western New York’s only co-ed Montessori and PreK – 12th grade independent school, is proud to be partnering with the P.U.N.T. Pediatric Cancer Collaborative, a non-profit foundation providing various programs that offer financial, emotional, and practical support for families facing childhood cancer.

In a commendable partnership, the Park School of Buffalo and the P.U.N.T. Pediatric Cancer Collaborative join forces to organize the Park Dunks for P.U.N.T., an upcoming basketball tournament aimed at supporting families grappling with pediatric cancer. The event, scheduled for May 11 from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Rich Family Activity Center on Park’s campus (4625 Harlem Road, Amherst, NY), welcomes children aged 7-14 and offers a diverse range of family activities.

Stephanie Dommer, Park’s Director of Marketing and Communication, expresses her enthusiasm for fostering community bonds and contributing to a local cause. Director of Athletics, Turner Battle, has played a pivotal role in bringing the event to life, coordinating volunteer basketball players to referee the games. Dommer notes the scarcity of tournaments catering to younger kids in Western New York, emphasizing the significant impact this event can have.

The tournament, featuring boys’ and girls’ teams across four age groups, invites public participation. Registration is open on the event’s dedicated page: https://theparkschool.org/dunks4punt. The page includes separate forms for team registration and payment.

Gwen Mysiak, Executive Director of P.U.N.T., expresses gratitude for the Park School community’s commitment to easing the challenges faced by families dealing with pediatric cancer. Mysiak emphasizes that the funds raised will directly alleviate financial burdens, allowing parents to focus on supporting their children through their cancer journey.

Both organizations encourage the community to partake in this meaningful event. As participants enjoy the basketball tournament, live entertainment, and diverse activities, they will be contributing to a noble cause. It’s an opportunity for the community to come together, have fun, and make a difference in the lives of families battling pediatric cancer.
