(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – Erie County District Attorney John J. Flynn announces that a 30-year-old Tonawanda man pleaded guilty before Acting Erie County Court Judge Andrew C. LoTempio to one count of Assault in the Second Degree (Class “D” felony).

On Sunday, June 11, 2023, 11:40 p.m., Zachery S. Meer caused physical injuries to the victim by stabbing him in the torso with a knife. The crime occurred during an altercation on the patio outside of a tavern on the 1800 block of Colvin Boulevard in the Town of Tonawanda. The victim, a 29-year-old male, was taken by ambulance to ECMC where he was treated for a stab wound.

Meer faces a maximum of 7 years in prison when he is sentenced on Tuesday, June 4, 2024 at 9:30 a.m. Prosecutors requested that the defendant be remanded pending sentence, but the defendant was released on his own recognizance.

A temporary order of protection issued on behalf of the victim remains in effect.

DA Flynn commends the Town of Tonawanda Police Department for their work in this investigation.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Peter M. Pinelli of the Felony Trials Bureau.
