(WNY News Now) – Chautauqua County law enforcement officers arrested two individuals following a late-night traffic stop on Main Street in Frewsburg, resulting in charges related to narcotics possession and tampering with evidence.

Chautauqua County Narcotics Investigators, on April 8th, apprehended Brook A. Patterson, 38, of Jamestown, and Brian T. Jones, 39, of Frewsburg, during a routine traffic stop at approximately 11:46 pm. The arrest followed alleged observations of Patterson driving a vehicle despite his suspended driving privileges. Upon halting the vehicle, Jones, a passenger, was witnessed discarding a glass smoking pipe containing traces of cocaine.

Both individuals were promptly detained, leading to a thorough search of their persons and the vehicle. The search yielded incriminating evidence, with Patterson found in possession of packaging materials, digital scales, and a quantity of cocaine. Jones, on the other hand, was charged with felony Tampering with Physical Evidence.

Subsequent legal proceedings saw Jones released with an appearance ticket after processing, while Patterson was remanded to the Chautauqua County Jail for Centralized Arraignment. Charges against Patterson include Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession Controlled Substance 5th Degree, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operator 2nd Degree.

Authorities urge community members to remain vigilant and report any suspicious or narcotics-related activities in their neighborhoods. These are allegations all persons are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
