(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Buffalo, NY, has issued a Flood Warning for the Allegheny River in Olean, Cattaraugus County, New York, effective until early Monday morning, April 15.
The NWS warns of minor flooding along the Allegheny River, affecting areas including Olean and Salamanca. The river is expected to crest at 12.3 feet Sunday morning, exceeding the flood stage of 12.0 feet. Residents are advised to remain cautious, with possible flooding on Union Street in Allegany and East Riverside Drive upstream of Olean. Farm lands near the river may also be impacted. Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
