(WNY News Now) – Mayville, NY – A case of alleged violation of a protection order has resulted in Criminal Contempt charges against a 42-year-old Chautauqua County Jail inmate, with authorities claiming he allegedly communicated with a party under protection between April 7 and April 17, 2024.

Chautauqua County Jail authorities have pressed charges against Peter G. Galardo for alleged Criminal Contempt 2nd Degree after claims of violating a valid protection order. The Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office’s Criminal Investigation Division initiated an inquiry following information received from Jail Supervisors on April 17, 2024. The investigation revealed purported communication via phone and electronic means between Galardo and an individual under a valid protection order, spanning from April 7 to April 17, 2024.

Galardo, 42, was arraigned through the Computerized Arraignment Process (CAP) system. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Town of Chautauqua. Further details about the nature of the protection order and the specific communication content have not been disclosed at this time.
