(WNY News Now) – WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Nick Langworthy (NY-23) issued the following statement after the Senate voted to dismiss the impeachment articles against Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas:

“Congress has a Constitutional responsibility to hold the executive branch accountable — today, all 51 Democrats in the Senate failed the American people. Secretary Mayorkas’ dereliction of his duty to secure the southern border comes at the cost of American lives, from those murdered by criminals like Laken Riley to those who were killed by deadly fentanyl. We cannot afford to allow Mayorkas to continue jeopardizing our national security as well as the health and safety of all Americans.”

Congressman Nick Langworthy represents the 23rd Congressional District of New York, including Allegany, Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Chemung, Schuyler, and Steuben Counties and parts of Erie County. Visit langworthy.house.gov.
