On April 27, 2024, at approximately 12:43 AM, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Deputies and EMS responded to a one-vehicle personal injury accident on Route 39 in the Town of Sheridan. The driver, Efrain J. Aguiar-Rodriguez, a 25-year-old male from Dunkirk, New York, attempted to pass another vehicle in a no-passing zone while traveling westbound. As he tried to avoid a collision with an eastbound vehicle, Aguiar-Rodriguez lost control, veering off the road, rolling his vehicle, and colliding with a tree and a power utility pole.

Despite sustaining minor injuries, Aguiar-Rodriguez was treated at the scene by Sheridan Fire Department and Chautauqua County EMS. National Grid responded to replace the damaged power pole. Aguiar-Rodriguez was subsequently issued traffic tickets and is scheduled to appear in the Town of Sheridan Court.
