(WNY News Now) – Mayville, NY – A 42-year-old Sherman, NY man received a determinate state prison term of 7 years, along with 2 years of post-release supervision, as ruled by Judge David Foley today, April 29th, after being found guilty of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Third Degree, a class B felony.

Following a search warrant executed by the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s office in October 2022 in the Town of Sherman, Allan Detweiler was apprehended for Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Second Degree, a class A felony, upon discovery of a significant quantity of methamphetamine in his possession. Detweiler subsequently pleaded guilty to the lesser charge on January 4th, as part of a plea agreement that also addressed pending legal matters in the Village of Sherman and Town of Westfield.

The sentencing handed down by Judge Foley today marks the culmination of legal proceedings against Detweiler, underscoring the severity of his offense and its consequences. The District Attorney expressed gratitude to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Division for their diligence in pursuing the case.
