(WNY News Now) – Niagara Falls – In a shocking early morning incident, Niagara Falls police have charged a local man with second-degree murder following a fatal domestic altercation.

A Niagara Falls man has been charged with murder following a fatal domestic incident early Wednesday morning on 22nd Street, according to city officials. The police responded to a call at approximately 2:45 a.m. in the 400 block of 22nd Street and discovered a potential suspect outside the residence.

The suspect, identified as Edward Parmer, 63, was detained by officers at the scene. Inside the residence, officers found an unresponsive woman on the floor. Despite first aid efforts, the woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not released her name.

Parmer has been charged with second-degree murder and was scheduled for arraignment later that day. The police have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to contact them at 716-286-4553 or 716-286-4711. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
