(WNY News Now) – Jamestown – A series of shooting incidents in Jamestown has left two individuals critically injured, with authorities linking the attacks to targeted confrontations. A local man is now facing serious charges as investigations continue.

The Jamestown Police Department is actively investigating three separate shooting incidents that have occurred within a 48-hour span, leaving the community on edge. The first incident took place in the early hours of August 16, 2024, when a confrontation outside a downtown establishment escalated into violence. The victim, suffering life-threatening injuries, was swiftly transported to an out-of-town hospital for urgent care.

Later that day, JPD Patrol Officers responded to a shooting on the 800 block of Prendergast Avenue. The victim in this incident sustained minor injuries and was treated and released from a local hospital.

The most recent shooting occurred in the early morning hours of August 17, 2024, on Victoria Avenue. A victim was found with critical injuries and, like the first victim, was transported to an out-of-town medical facility for further treatment. During the investigation, 33-year-old Juan A. Tufino Jr. of Jamestown was arrested after being found in possession of a loaded pistol. Tufino has been charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the third degree and is currently being held at the Jamestown City Jail, pending arraignment. As are all persons accused of a crime, the defendant is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

Authorities believe all three shootings were targeted, with the victims known to their assailants. As the investigations unfold, Jamestown Police urge anyone with information to come forward by contacting the department at 716-483-7537 or anonymously through the confidential tip line at 716-483-TIPS (8477).
