(WNY News Now) – Buffalo – A Buffalo woman has been indicted on multiple felony charges, including attempted murder, for allegedly firing shots at a group of people during a drive-by shooting outside a corner store.
A Buffalo woman is facing serious felony charges, including attempted murder, following an alleged shooting incident outside a corner store in the City of Buffalo. Rhodesia L. Anderson, 34, was arraigned on an indictment that charges her with Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, among other violent felonies.
The indictment stems from an incident on August 2, 2024, when Anderson allegedly engaged in a physical altercation with a known associate near the corner of Genesee and May streets. Following the dispute, Anderson is accused of getting into a vehicle and intentionally firing multiple shots from an illegal firearm at a group of people as she drove past the store. One male victim was struck in the hand by the gunfire and was treated at Erie County Medical Center.
After being located and apprehended on the city’s West Side by the Buffalo Police Department Intelligence Unit, Anderson was arraigned before Acting Erie County Court Judge Andrew C. LoTempio. Prosecutors requested that Anderson be remanded, but Judge LoTempio set bail at $20,000 cash or $75,000 bond. Anderson remains in custody on bail.
If convicted of the most severe charge, Anderson could face up to 25 years in prison. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan M. Flaherty of the Major Crimes Bureau. The investigation was led by Detectives Ryan Crespo and Richard Cruz, with significant contributions from the Buffalo Police Department’s Gun Violence Unit and Intelligence Unit.
As in all criminal cases, Anderson is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
