(WNY News Now) – Buffalo, NY – A 49-year-old Buffalo woman, Charrinda Gray, has pleaded guilty to manslaughter after fatally stabbing her boyfriend during a domestic dispute. The plea was entered before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek.

On the evening of November 19, 2020, Buffalo Police were dispatched to a residence on Heward Avenue following a 911 call reporting a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers found 46-year-old Samuel A. Jackson suffering from multiple stab wounds outside the home. Gray, in the heat of an argument, had stabbed Jackson with a kitchen knife, inflicting wounds to his abdomen and buttocks. Jackson was rushed to Erie County Medical Center, where he later succumbed to his injuries.

Gray’s guilty plea to Manslaughter in the Second Degree, a Class C felony, brings closure to the indictment. She is now awaiting sentencing, which is scheduled for January 2, 2025. Gray could face up to 15 years in prison. She remains free on a $250,000 bond posted earlier in Buffalo City Court.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane acknowledged the diligent work of Buffalo Police Detectives Erin McCarthy and Anthony Lapiana in the investigation. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Hilarie L. Henry of the Special Victims/Domestic Violence Bureau, alongside former Assistant District Attorney Ryan D. Haggerty.
