(WNY News Now) – Syracuse – Two separate stabbings within half an hour in downtown Syracuse leave residents on edge as police investigate the incidents.
On Friday, August 23rd, Syracuse police responded to two stabbing incidents that occurred within minutes of each other in different parts of the city. The first occurred at the intersection of South State Street and East Fayette Street around 2:03 p.m., where officers found an adult male with a minor puncture wound to his lower right back. Despite the injury, the victim refused transport to the hospital.
Shortly after, at approximately 2:39 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 600 block of South Salina Street, where they discovered a man in his 50s suffering from a stab wound to his neck. The victim was transported to Upstate University Hospital, where his injuries were deemed non-life-threatening.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the two stabbings are not connected, though police are treating both cases with urgency. The Syracuse Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Division is actively pursuing leads and urges anyone with information to come forward.
