(WNY News Now) – Niagara Falls – An untreated wastewater discharge is affecting the Lower Niagara River following severe rainfall.

The Niagara Falls (C) Wastewater Treatment Plant has reported an ongoing discharge of untreated rainwater and wastewater at 1099 Whirlpool Street, near the Lower Niagara River. Heavy rain has overwhelmed system capacity, leading to the overflow of approximately 10 million gallons. The discharge could impact local parks, fishing areas, and boat launches.
