(WNY News Now) – A tragic motor vehicle accident in Somerset, NY has claimed the life of one man and left another injured.
Somerset, NY – On Tuesday, September 10, 2024, a fatal crash occurred at the intersection of Lake and Carmen Roads in the Town of Somerset. The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office responded to a 911 call reporting the accident.
Initial investigations revealed that a 2024 Nissan, traveling north on Carmen Road, failed to yield the right of way to a 2019 GMC traveling east on Lake Road. The GMC collided with the Nissan, causing both vehicles to veer off course. The GMC came to rest in a cornfield, while the Nissan stopped at the intersection.
The 77-year-old male driver of the GMC was taken to Lockport Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Tragically, the 78-year-old male driver of the Nissan was airlifted to ECMC, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The identities of the individuals involved are being withheld pending family notification. The Niagara County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate the incident.
