(WNY News Now) – Rochester – A local man was sentenced to three years’ probation and six months of home detention for stealing mail using a stolen United States Postal Service (USPS) key, federal authorities announced.
Legend Terrance Davis, 21, of Rochester, was convicted of unlawfully possessing a USPS key and using it to steal mail in October 2023. U.S. District Judge Frank P. Geraci Jr. also ordered Davis to complete 50 hours of community service.
Federal prosecutors revealed that Davis, along with others, used the stolen key on October 1 and 2, 2023, to access mailboxes near three post offices: Brighton Station Post Office on N. Winton Road, Greece Post Office on Latta Road, and Jefferson Road Post Office in Rochester.
The investigation was led by the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, with support from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
