(WNY News Now) – ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A 31-year-old Rochester man will spend the next decade behind bars after being convicted of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking. Jaomi Delgado was sentenced to 120 months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Charles J. Siragusa, following an investigation by federal and local authorities.

Delgado was apprehended on May 18, 2022, after months of surveillance. Law enforcement observed Delgado pull into a parking lot on Norton Street, enter a restaurant, and later discovered a gun in plain sight inside his vehicle. Upon his arrest, Delgado’s car was towed and searched. Officers found a loaded .40 caliber handgun, 60 fentanyl pills, four cell phones, and $17,875 in cash.

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) and the Rochester Police Department worked together on the investigation. Special Agent-in-Charge Bryan Miller of the ATF and Chief David Smith of the Rochester Police Department praised the coordination that led to Delgado’s arrest and conviction.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Robert A. Marangola prosecuted the case.
