(WNY News Now) – A Buffalo man has admitted to fatally shooting a victim with an illegal firearm in a tragic East Side incident, now facing a potential 40-year sentence.

Buffalo, N.Y. – Keyondre Robertson, also known as “Kano,” 22, from Buffalo, pled guilty yesterday to charges of Manslaughter in the First Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree, both classified as violent felonies. The plea, entered before State Supreme Court Justice Paul B. Wojtaszek, addresses the shooting of 25-year-old John L. Craig on Buffalo’s East Side late last year.
The fatal incident occurred on Saturday, December 3, 2022, around 2:00 a.m., near the intersection of Lang Avenue and Ericson Avenue. Robertson reportedly used an illegal firearm in the confrontation, which resulted in Craig’s death at the scene. Following an extensive investigation led by Buffalo Police Detectives Mark White and Scott Malec, Robertson was arrested and held without bail.
Erie County Acting District Attorney Michael J. Keane lauded the efforts of law enforcement in securing the guilty plea, which Robertson entered to avoid a potential murder trial. Assistant District Attorney John P. Gerken, Jr. of the Homicide Bureau led the prosecution.
Robertson, who has been held in custody without bail since his arrest, faces up to 40 years in prison. His sentencing is scheduled for Thursday, January 2, 2025, at 2:00 p.m.
