(WNY News Now) – The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has officially lifted the Travel Advisory issued on December 2, but residents and travelers are urged to stay alert for ongoing and upcoming weather events.

CATTARAUGUS COUNTY, NY – As of 11:30 AM on December 3, 2024, the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has lifted the Travel Advisory that was put in place on December 2, 2024, at 8:00 PM. The advisory had been issued due to the significant lake effect snow and hazardous road conditions. However, motorists are still advised to proceed with caution.

A lake effect snow warning remains active across the region until 7:00 PM tonight, December 3. This warning signifies the continued potential for heavy snowfall and rapidly changing weather conditions, which could impact visibility and road safety.

Looking ahead, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Watch for Cattaraugus County, in effect from Wednesday evening through late Thursday night. Forecasters are predicting more snow, freezing rain, and gusty winds that could create treacherous travel conditions.

Travelers should remain vigilant, especially during the transition periods when weather conditions can change quickly. Local authorities are monitoring the situation and recommend checking weather updates regularly. Motorists are urged to slow down, increase following distances, and be prepared for possible road closures or delays.
