New York – Governor Kathy Hochul has announced a significant victory for New Yorkers, following a contentious proposal by Anthem to deny insurance coverage for surgical procedures requiring anesthesia. The proposed policy, which sparked widespread outrage, would have left patients facing substantial out-of-pocket costs for medically necessary care.

“Last night, I shared my outrage at a plan from Anthem to strip away coverage from New Yorkers who had to go under anesthesia for surgery. We pushed Anthem to reverse course and today they will be announcing a full reversal of this misguided policy.
