(WNY News Now) – A Jamestown man was arrested on multiple charges after violating an active order of protection during a domestic dispute on December 3.

On the evening of December 3, 2024, at approximately 9:58 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded to a report of a domestic dispute at a Southside residence. Upon arrival, officers found 28-year-old James A. Carter inside the home with a female and juvenile victim.

It was quickly determined that Carter had an active Stay Away Order of Protection, which prohibited him from being in the company of the victims. Officers observed him attempt to flee back into the residence as they approached. After securing the exterior, officers entered the home and located Carter hiding inside. He was taken into custody without incident.

Carter, who has a prior conviction for Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, was charged with two counts of Aggravated Criminal Contempt. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail and is being held pending his arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
