(WNY News Now) – A routine traffic stop in Jamestown escalated into an unexpected altercation, leading to the arrest of a 22-year-old man on obstruction charges.
On the evening of December 12, 2024, at approximately 6:30 PM, officers from the Jamestown Police Department conducted a traffic stop near Forest Avenue and Forest Park. While initiating the stop, an unrelated individual, identified as Daniel J. Haney, 22, of Jamestown, approached the scene and disrupted the officers’ efforts.
According to police reports, Haney exited a separate, uninvolved vehicle and began yelling obscenities at the officers. The situation escalated as Haney reportedly pushed the officers without provocation.
The officers quickly subdued and arrested Haney. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he was charged with Obstructing Governmental Administration in the 2nd Degree, a Class A misdemeanor under New York law.
Haney is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
