(WNY News Now) – Sally A. Jaroszynski, a judicial candidate for Chautauqua County Family Court, was arraigned on election law violations after allegedly falsifying petition signatures.
Sally A. Jaroszynski, 57, of Falconer, has been arraigned on charges related to election law violations after allegedly falsifying a petition for her bid for Chautauqua County Family Court Judge. Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced the charges today, revealing that Jaroszynski faces two counts of Misconduct in Relation to Petitions, both unclassified misdemeanors. However, one of the counts was dismissed due to proof issues.
The allegations center around an incident on March 26, 2024, in the Town of Ellicott, Chautauqua County. According to the charges, while serving as a notary public, Jaroszynski signed and notarized a Conservative Party designating petition for her candidacy. Investigators say she acknowledged witnessing a signature, although she was not present at the time.
Due to a conflict of interest within Chautauqua County, the Erie County District Attorney’s Office was appointed as a special prosecutor to handle the case. Acting DA Keane praised the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division for its thorough work in bringing the case to light.
The prosecution is being led by Chief Gary Ertel of the Special Investigations and Prosecutions Bureau. As with all criminal cases, Jaroszynski is presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
