(WNY News Now) – A North Side residence became the scene of a chaotic confrontation early Friday morning, leading to the arrest of a Jamestown woman accused of obstructing an investigation and resisting arrest.

JAMESTOWN, NY — In the early hours of December 27, 2024, the Jamestown Police Department responded to a report of unwanted individuals at a North Side address, an incident initially linked to a disturbance at the Wine Cellar.

Upon arrival at 2:13 AM, officers engaged with two individuals at the residence. During the investigation, Mary A. Mowell, a 43-year-old Jamestown resident, escalated the situation by picking up a dumbbell and charging at an officer and the involved parties.

Officers quickly subdued Mowell without further incident and transported her to the Jamestown City Jail. She faces charges of Obstructing Government Administration, Resisting Arrest, and Unnecessary Noise.

Mowell was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to face the charges in Jamestown City Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
