(WNY News Now) – A 34-year-old man was taken into custody in Randolph by the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office on December 27, 2024, for assault-related charges.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office arrested James D. Porter, 34, of Randolph, New York, on December 27, 2024, at approximately 8:00 PM. Authorities responded to an incident at a residence on Main Street in Randolph, leading to Porter’s arrest on a charge of assault in the third degree.

While details surrounding the circumstances of the alleged assault remain limited, officials confirmed that Porter was released on an appearance ticket following the arrest. Porter is set to appear in court on a future date to address the allegations.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
