(WNY News Now) – Mayville, NY — A routine traffic stop in the early hours of New Year’s Day led to the arrest of a Niagara Falls man on multiple charges, including Driving While Intoxicated.
At approximately 1:49 a.m. on January 1, 2025, Chautauqua County Sheriff’s deputies stopped a vehicle on North Erie Street in the Village of Mayville after observing several traffic violations. Authorities determined the driver, George A. Diramio, 33, of Niagara Falls, was operating the vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
Diramio was arrested and charged with the following offenses:
- Improper/Unsafe Turn Without Signal
- Speed in Zone
- Aggravated Unlicensed Operation in the First Degree
- Driving While Intoxicated
- Driving While Intoxicated Per Se
After processing, Diramio was released with appearance tickets to report to the Town of Chautauqua Court at a later date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
