(WNY News Now) – A 17-year-old juvenile, previously charged with multiple burglaries, has been arrested again after returning to Dunkirk.

Dunkirk, N.Y. – The Dunkirk Police Department is alerting the community about the recent arrest of a 17-year-old juvenile who has been charged with felony burglary and several misdemeanors. This follows a series of burglaries the teen was involved in last spring in the City of Dunkirk.

After serving a detention period at a secure facility downstate, the juvenile returned to the area, where law enforcement quickly apprehended them on new charges. The most recent charge is for burglary in the third degree, a felony, in addition to several misdemeanor offenses.

The juvenile is scheduled to appear in Chautauqua County Youth Part Court later this month, where they will address the charges. They will also be meeting with the Office of Probation to answer for the new accusations.

The Dunkirk Police Department is urging local business owners to be vigilant, especially after hours. Authorities advise securing all buildings and immediately reporting any suspicious activity to help maintain safety in the community.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
