(WNY News Now) – A 21-year-old woman was charged with possession of a controlled substance and promoting prison contraband following an incident at the Cattaraugus County Jail in Little Valley.

The Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office has reported the arrest of Tia L. Barber, 21, at 301 Court Street in Little Valley on January 6, 2025, at approximately 2:10 PM. Barber faces charges of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Promoting Prison Contraband in the 2nd Degree.

According to law enforcement, Barber was found to be in possession of cocaine during the intake process at the county jail. This discovery led to the additional contraband-related charge.

Following the incident, Barber was issued an appearance ticket requiring her to attend a hearing in Little Valley Town Court at a later date.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
