(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A routine traffic stop in downtown Jamestown led to drug charges for a local woman early Friday morning.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers from the 3rd Platoon stopped a vehicle near the intersection of North Main Street and West 3rd Street at approximately 1:40 a.m. on January 31 for observed traffic violations.
During the investigation, police discovered that the driver, 59-year-old Cheryl L. Tane, was in possession of methamphetamine and suboxone. She was taken into custody and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.
Tane was charged with two counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and issued multiple traffic citations. In accordance with New York State bail reform laws, she was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled to appear in Jamestown City Court at a later date.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
