(WNY News Now) – FRANKLINVILLE, N.Y. – A Franklinville man was arrested following a domestic incident earlier this month, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies took John P. Newhand, 66, into custody on February 16, 2025, in connection to an incident that occurred on February 1, 2025. Newhand was charged with Menacing in the Second Degree with a Firearm, a misdemeanor offense.
Authorities reported that Newhand was arrested without incident on South Cadiz Road at approximately 1:21 p.m. He was later arraigned in Ellicottville Local Criminal Court at 5:30 p.m. and released on his own recognizance.
Newhand is scheduled to appear in Franklinville Town Court at a later date to face further proceedings. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
