(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – A federal grand jury has indicted Quentin L. Yancey, also known as “Q,” 38, of Rochester, NY, on narcotics conspiracy charges, U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced. If convicted, Yancey faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, with a maximum possible sentence of life.
According to Assistant U.S. Attorneys Joshua A. Violanti and Louis A. Testani, the indictment alleges that between 2018 and May 26, 2022, Yancey conspired with Joseph S. Zaso and others to distribute heroin and fentanyl in the Rochester area. Zaso has already been convicted and is awaiting sentencing.
Following his arraignment before U.S. District Judge Michael J. Roemer, Yancey was ordered detained.
The case is part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETF) initiative, which targets high-level criminal organizations through coordinated law enforcement efforts. Agencies involved in the investigation include the Jamestown Police Department, the Drug Enforcement Administration’s New York Field Division, and the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office.
An indictment is merely an accusation, and Yancey is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
