(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – Arkan Fadhel, 30, of Buffalo, was sentenced to three years of supervised release, including 12 months of home incarceration, for conspiracy to commit health care fraud. U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo also ordered Fadhel to perform 400 hours of community service, forfeit $781,186.80, and pay $250,000 in restitution.
Fadhel, the owner of Queen City Transportation, Inc., admitted to submitting fraudulent Medicaid claims between August 2018 and December 2020. His company, which provided non-emergency transportation to Medicaid recipients, primarily for methadone clinic visits, falsely reported rides that never occurred and billed group rides as individual trips, leading to over $250,000 in improper payments.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Franz M. Wright and Mary Clare Kane and investigated by the Western New York Health Care Fraud Task Force, which includes the FBI, the New York State Department of Financial Services, the New York State Police, and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services.
