(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, NY – A routine traffic stop early Thursday morning led to the arrest of a Jamestown man on multiple charges, including criminal contempt and aggravated unlicensed operation.

At approximately 12:30 a.m. on March 6, 2025, officers from the Jamestown Police Department’s Third Platoon conducted a vehicle stop near the intersection of North Main Street and West 12th Street after observing traffic violations. The driver, identified as 24-year-old Sabir Mutasim Habeeb Collins of Jamestown, was found to have a suspended New York State driver’s license.

Further investigation revealed that Collins had active warrants issued by Jamestown City Court for multiple violations of an order of protection. During the stop, officers allege that Collins called the protected party named in the order, leading to additional criminal contempt charges.

Collins was taken into custody and charged with three counts of Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle in the Third Degree. He was transported to the Jamestown City Jail, where he is being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court.

As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
