(WNY News Now) – Building Recovery Through Community: MHA Seeks Support for Monthly Luncheons.
Jamestown, N.Y. – The Mental Health Association in Chautauqua County is a peer recovery center offering support groups and individual coaching for people looking to improve their lives, deepen wellness, thrive in recovery, or support those on a recovery path. Peers use their personal stories to help people find recovery in their own lives in their own way.

Because celebrating positive milestones increases long-term recovery, the MHA holds a monthly luncheon to recognize participants’ progress.
At the MHA’s February luncheon, Executive Director Michael Nordin congratulated a participant for securing housing and introduced Danny Rosario, MHA’s new bilingual Spanish outreach peer specialist who will be working at both the Jamestown and North County recovery centers.
Participant Mike Norberg offered the blessing before the meal.
With assistance from Nordin and Grant Manager Michelle Colaiacovo, Activities/PR Coordinator Dianne Valvo and Finance Director Jill Marsh prepared a delicious Italian dinner with an assortment of cookies and cupcakes for dessert. Volunteer Diana Bloom joined staff to serve the meal.
All are welcome to the recovery luncheons at 1 p.m. on the third Tuesday of every month at the Jamestown recovery center. The luncheon and all MHA services are free.
The MHA invites local businesses, churches and organizations to assist in providing these lunches. To help by making a meal or sharing its cost, contact Valvo at (716) 720-8098 or Dianne.Valvo@MHAChautauqua.org. In addition to the good feeling you will get, you will be recognized in an MHA newsletter and a widely-distributed news release.
MHA’s Jamestown recovery center in the Gateway Building, Door 14, at 31 Water Street is open Monday, Wednesday and Thursday, 9:30 a.m.–7 p.m., and Tuesday and Friday, 9:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m. Hours for the North County center at Grace Lutheran Church, 601 Eagle Street in Dunkirk, are Tuesday and Wednesday, 9:30 a.m.– 4:30 p.m., and 1:30–2:30 p.m. Fridays for the Wellness and Recovery group.
