(WNY News Now) – BUFFALO, N.Y. – A 17-year-old male from Buffalo has been sentenced to six months in jail followed by three years of probation after pleading guilty to assaulting a neighbor in South Buffalo, Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced.
The stabbing occurred on November 1, 2024, at approximately 1:00 a.m. on the 1900 block of Seneca Street. Buffalo Police responded to a report of an altercation in which the teen used a pocketknife to stab a 43-year-old man during a neighborhood dispute. The victim sustained serious injuries to his chest and abdomen, requiring surgery and several days of hospitalization at Erie County Medical Center (ECMC).
The defendant pleaded guilty on February 5, 2025, to one count of Assault in the First Degree, a Class B violent felony. He was sentenced as a Youthful Offender by Judge Brenda Freedman in Youth Part Court.
District Attorney Keane commended Buffalo Police Detective Courtney Halligan and Officer Brendan Cullen for their investigative efforts. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney James L. Harrington of the Raise the Age/Motor Vehicle Theft Insurance Fraud Unit.
