(WNY News Now) – Jamestown, NY – A 33-year-old Jamestown woman was arrested at a local public school on Monday morning after becoming disorderly and physically confronting a school security officer.
At approximately 8:20 AM, officers from the Jamestown Police Department responded to a call about a disruptive individual at Jamestown Public School. Alyssa R. Payne, of Jamestown, was reportedly causing a scene in an area populated by students, including her own child. According to authorities, Payne began threatening school staff when informed that she needed to leave the premises.
As security personnel attempted to escort Payne out of the building, she reportedly became more aggressive, pushing and striking a school security officer. Payne’s actions escalated further when she resisted arrest, pulling away from officers trying to take her into custody.
Payne was arrested on multiple charges, including Endangering the Welfare of a Child, Harassment in the 2nd Degree, Resisting Arrest, and Criminal Trespass in the 3rd Degree. She was transported to Jamestown City Jail and later arraigned. Under New York State’s bail reform laws, Payne was released on her own recognizance and is scheduled for a future court appearance at Jamestown City Court.
As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
