(WNY News Now) – ELLICOTTVILLE, N.Y. – A 19-year-old man from Niagara Falls, Ontario, was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI) following a traffic stop in the early hours of March 30, according to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities say Ryan D. Wiggins was stopped at approximately 2:29 a.m. on Holiday Valley Road for multiple traffic violations, including speeding, reckless driving, and failing to keep right. Deputies determined Wiggins exhibited signs of intoxication, prompting a roadside investigation.

Following the assessment, Wiggins was taken into custody and transported to the Cattaraugus County Sheriff’s Office for processing. He was charged with DWI, driving with a blood alcohol concentration of .08% or more, and several traffic infractions.

Wiggins was later arraigned in the Town of Ellicottville Court and released on his own recognizance with a future court date. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
