Gregory J. Coco admits to underreporting over $1.7 million in business income, owing IRS more than $450,000

(WNY News Now) – ROCHESTER, N.Y. — A Rochester business owner has pleaded guilty to filing a false tax return, admitting he underreported more than $1.7 million in income over a six-year period, according to U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.

Gregory J. Coco, 44, owner of Century Asphalt Maintenance, entered his guilty plea before U.S. District Judge Meredith A. Vacca. The charge carries a maximum sentence of three years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

According to Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas M. Testani, Coco received approximately $2.6 million in payments from customers between 2017 and 2022 for driveway sealing services. However, he failed to report $1,704,556.57 of that income to his tax preparer, resulting in an unpaid tax liability of $456,683.00 to the Internal Revenue Service.

The case was investigated by the IRS Criminal Investigations Division, led by Special Agent in Charge Harry Chavis.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 7, 2025, before Judge Vacca in federal court.
