Jamestown police arrest local man during street check; cocaine found during booking process.
(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. – A 24-year-old Jamestown resident was taken into custody Friday afternoon after officers conducting a street check identified him as a subject with an outstanding warrant and later discovered cocaine in his possession.
According to the Jamestown Police Department, officers were conducting a GIVE (Gun Involved Violence Elimination) patrol on June 20, 2025, at approximately 4:02 p.m. in the area of Forest Avenue and McKinley Avenue. During the patrol, officers observed Robert G. Gilbert walking southbound on Forest Avenue.
Police say officers recognized Gilbert and confirmed he had an outstanding arrest warrant issued by Jamestown City Court. He was detained without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail.
During the booking process, a small quantity of cocaine was allegedly found in Gilbert’s belongings. As a result, he was additionally charged with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the Seventh Degree, a class A misdemeanor under New York State Penal Law.
Gilbert was held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
