(WNY News Now) – JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A routine traffic stop led to the arrest of a Jamestown woman for felony criminal contempt on Monday evening, after police discovered she was in a vehicle with a protected individual named in an active court order.

On July 8, 2025, at approximately 5:40 p.m., officers from the Jamestown Police Department conducted a vehicle stop in the area of Foote Avenue and Cole Avenue due to observed traffic violations near the southside plaza.

During the course of the investigation, officers identified the driver as Sarah E. Johnson, a resident of Jamestown. Police determined that Johnson was in the company of an individual who is protected by a Stay Away Order of Protection previously issued by Jamestown City Court.

Johnson was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Jamestown City Jail. She was charged with Criminal Contempt in the First Degree, a felony offense, due to a prior conviction related to a similar violation.

Johnson is currently being held pending arraignment in Jamestown City Court. As are all persons accused of a crime, the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
