(WNY News Now) – Governor Kathy Hochul says New York will see $187 million in federal funding for law enforcement and counterterrorism efforts restored following recent cuts.
In a statement released Friday, Hochul credited her administration’s efforts in urging the federal government to reverse course. The governor said the funding is vital to ensuring the state has the resources to support police, first responders, and counterterrorism operations.
“From the moment these devastating cuts were announced, I made it clear that New York would not stand by while our law enforcement and counterterrorism operations were defunded,” Hochul said. “I’m glad President Trump heard our call and reversed course, ensuring our state has the resources necessary to support law enforcement and keep our families safe.”
Hochul emphasized that the restored funding marks “a victory for public safety and for every New Yorker who depends on our brave law enforcement and first responders to keep our state secure.”
The $187 million allocation is expected to be directed toward statewide initiatives that strengthen security, expand counterterrorism measures, and provide support to local and state agencies.
